Berliner Mauern (Berlin Walls) is an independent street photography project and online graffiti/streetart photo archive from Berlin.
Since 2017 we have published several thousands of photos. Over the years, we have created a unique collection, which is now available for everyone to view here on our website.
Each picture was photographed by ourselves. We take pictures when we walk through the streets where we are at home.
We look at the city in which we grew up, following our gaze, documenting life and its expressions, between all these walls.
Our blog is ad-free. And it will remain so. – Independence is important!
We are self-publishers. The photo-zines, posters, prints, stickers that we design with our pictures we publish ourselves. We usually sell them at cost price. – The principle of DIY.
We do not follow any ideology or agenda, any particular worldview, or call on people to do things they should not do. – We point out and document.
Our photojournalism always remains autodidactic. Curiosity drives us and not dogmas. Rigid rules are there to be broken. – It’s about amazement and wonder. And sometimes also about not understanding.
A special feature of our blog, apart from its many pictures, is that we publish almost all our photos in two versions. One in color and one in black and white (see galleries → Black+ White, s/w versions).
This has artistic reasons and is part of our photographic standards.
We love what we do and usually remain anonymous. – Perhaps this is the best way to express that our project is about our pictures and what they show, and not about ourselves.
Photos are windows, names only words.
